I'm shocked that koryu has 3 Michelin stars. The food was not good; I didn't enjoy a single course. What is worse is that the staff seats Japanese and non Japanese patrons separately, with non Japanese getting worse seats. Frankly, it's a bit offensive. Finally, they charged me extra for a pescatarian menu in which they subbed out one steak dish for eel - not sure how that makes any sense. Definitely avoid this place - bad food in a bad setting.
MoreThe restaurant was very atmospheric and all the dishes were delicious.It's a high-class item, so I think it's best to use it for some kind of anniversary. There are many items, so you will be full.

MoreWow, 3 Michelin stars? Who rated this one? The food is not bad but not spectacular, simple dishes. The last dish before dessert was plain white congee, with a side of 2 pickled radish types and miso paste. Taste good but not 3 star good. Beef was good, fish was good but no otoro. I just feel the ingredients were not extraordinary, execution was not extraordinary, flavour was not extraordinary. Plating was excellent. Not bad by any means, but have had many 1 Michelin star restaurant meals that were leagues better... more disappointed at the rating than the meal.
MoreThis is an extremely busy Japanese restaurant, where limited seats are available & requires advance booking. Dinner is being served on 2 sessions. Food was good but bit disappointing given that I had high expectation as this was a Michelin 3-star restaurant. Interior decoration was mediocre & quite crowded. Food quality was high & tasted good but nothing that would give a customer a “wow”. Dish presentation was basic but perhaps too basic for a 3-star. Service was good though.

MoreExcellent Kaiseki in the heart of Kitashinchi. Food certainly deserves the 3 michelin stars but service could be improved. Although friendly and by no means rude, the fact that they separate their night between non-japanese tourists and japanese customers, made little sense to our group (8 years average living in Japan, japanese speakers working in Tokyo)Still, the season ingredients were a all amazing and there were no dishes trying to hard. Overall, extremely good.
MoreThere are two sittings for dinner, 6pm and 9pm. Be prepared dinner will finish well past 11pm for the 9pm sitting if the restaurant is full. Very worthy of its 3 Michelin Stars rating.

Gotten the 6pm seating instead of the reviewed 9pm for foreigners. There are 6 customers in total.We immediately caught slight of the prawn head on skewers hovering above the charcoal flame....can’t wait.Overall, the food is great. I can’t really fault much. There are certainly some highlights (presses sushi, prawn head, porridge) but overall, it’sdecent and good pricing. Staff speaks little English and will show you ipad. Kiddo for the effort.

MoreIf you understand food, then you'll love this 3 Michelin star Keiseki restaurant. The dishes blew my mind. Everything was beautifully plated in an unpresumptuous way. The dish that took me aback was the baby eel dish. Another wonderful part of the experience is that it's interactive with the chefs and speaking as a chef, I am amazed at how much they got done in such a small kitchen. Also it was also really cool to see how humble the chef was. You could truly see how much his staff love working with him. This is a must see restaurant in Osaka.Side note: To those who don't seem to understand the Michelin rating system. This restaurant was rated 3 stars based on the type of cuisine. Meaning you can't compare it to Alinea and others, because it's a different type of cuisine, but in its category of Keiseki it reigns supreme.
MoreKoryu is a must for me whenever in Osaka which I knew before it received top ratings in the Michelin Guide. It is one of my favorite places in Kansai. Extremely creative with excellent local products. Only 10 or so seats, so reservations are a must
